You can also aim your little ones towards the library to educate them about the reasons why they're butchering a gourd and dressing like a ghost, begging for candy. Finding books that epitomise the holiday shouldn't be too hard. One book that is excellent for childern of all ages, if you can find it, is
'IT'S HALLOWEEN'
by Jack Prelutsky, illustrated by Marylin Hafner.

I highly recomend this book for young children & anyone else who wants to feel like a kid again. Marylin Hafner's art in the book is very Goreyesque in style & extremely well done.
