What you'll need:
-Dry ice USE CAUTION AROUND DRY ICE!!
-A pail or bin full of warm water
-A cooler
This is something for those of you who are having Halloween parties or want to greet the little trick-or-treaters with a creepy fog rolling down your front stairs. It's pretty simple. First find a place near by you that sells dry ice. Ice cream & beverage distributers are good places to start looking.
When you buy the ice, have a cooler ready to put the ice into &
NEVER TOUCH DRY ICE WITH YOUR BARE HANDS!!!
Only buy the dry ice the day of or the day before you need to use it, otherwise it will evaporate before you get a chance to use it. Break up & place the dry ice in ice cube sized chunks into the pail of warm water. The fog effect will be thicker if the water is warm. Position the pail so that the drafts in your home will push the fog towards your front door. Once you open up your house to the little ones who will bang on your door, you'll have a nice fog rolling out onto your welcome mat to greet them & you didn't have to rent one of those expensive fog effect machines to do it.
As a side note, this effect is especially effective in grinning Jack O'Lanterns! just place a little container of warm water & dry ice into the pumpkin. The lighted interior of the jack O'Lantern will illumamate the fog.
